Identify What Type of On/Off Mechanism You Have
OPT 1… Intermatic T. Clock w/ Yellow Dial
OPT 2… Automation - Pentair, Hayward, Jandy
IF YOU SELECTED
OPT 1…
- ☑ Remove off tripper so the pump will run 24/7.
- ☑ This way, water will never freeze.
IF YOU SELECTED
OPT 2…
You don’t have to do anything. All automation systems have built-in freeze protection, which will make the pumps run non-stop when the temperature reaches below 36°.
The above options are good only when there is power.
IN THE EVENT THERE IS A POWER LOSS:
OPT 1:
Remove the on tripper this time. Make sure the timer silver tab is in the off position.
- A. Remove the drain plug from all pumps.
- B. Remove the drain plug from the filter.
- C. Remove the drain plug from the heater.
- D. Remove the drain plug from the chlorinator.
Option 2:
Flip all breakers off.
- A. Remove pump drain plugs to drain water.
- B. Open filter air relief valve.
- C. Remove heater drain plugs to prevent freezing.
- D. Store automated valves and electronics safely.
Power Restored:
OPT 1:
- Lubricate all O-rings on drain plugs.
- Reinstall all drain plugs.
- Prime the pump.
- Set the time clock back to the current time.
- Set trippers to desired operating times.
OPT 2:
- Lubricate all O-rings on drain plugs.
- Reinstall all drain plugs.
- Prime the pump.
- Go inside & stay warm.
